Advice for Approaching a New Year (...from my 16-year-old self 😜)

Advice for Approaching a New Year (...from my 16-year-old self 😜)

As I was thinking about how I wanted to ring in the New Year on the podcast, a lightbulb went off— “wait a second, didn’t I find that list of New Years Resolutions I made in high school? That shit would be HILARIOUS.”

So yes, in an effort to both entertain and inspire you, dear listeners, I am subjecting you in this solo episode to the wisdom of my 16-year-old self. 😂😂I had a blast reading through each of the 11 items on the list and sharing with y’all what I think of them now, 20+ years later.

And while I’ve grown a lot since then (thank Goddess), I got a little teary at one point seeing just how much wisdom I already had back then, even as I was in the early stages of battling my demons (err… healing? Growing? You get it.)

One thing I for SURE stand by from 2002 Val is the commitment to rereading intentions and goals regularly. It’s important to revisit and remind ourselves of what matters and what we want in life, so we can consistently assess and realign with our values and vision. And whatever your feelings are about New Years ~Resolutions~, the start of a New Year is as good a time as any (and the research would tell us, actually better) to do so.

I also most certainly share and celebrate my younger self's commitment to radiating confidence and kindness wherever I go. (Awww 🥹 right?!)

I hope you love listening to this episode half as much as I loved making it for you!
